Black Dog Institute X Fortunate One Initiative: A Guide To Crystals
We are excited to announce that Fortunate One is proudly supporting Australian non-for-profit organisation The Black Dog Institute, in an initiative to raise vital funding for those affected by mental illness. For the months of February and March, Fortunate One will be donating 50% of sales from their limited edition Crystal Poster to the charity, with the mission to promote positive mental health. Mental illness affects one in five Australians every year with suicide being the leading cause of death of Australians aged 14-55 years of age.
Specially commissioned by Australian born, Tokyo based artist Myra Shimada, the poster features water-coloured illustrations of unique crystals.
In 2018, the Fortunate One team nominated mental health as an important issue that still lacks awareness amongst the widespread community, with more than half of all Australians who suffer from a mental illness not seeking help. With the fashion brand already supporting a mentally healthy working environment, offering mindfulness seminars and encouraging a dog-friendly office to spark productivity and reduce stress. Fortunate One saw the relationship between Black Dog Institute and their core values to be a beautiful relationship.
With the belief in the importance of giving back to the Fortunate One community, the brand has announced they will make a $5.00 AUD contribution from every sale made, with all funds raised being used in an effort to provide support and enable mentally healthier lives through innovations in science, education and public policy.
“Mental health affects each one of us. The team at Fortunate One and I want to work to bring awareness to mental health illnesses which often go unspoken for. With this campaign we aim to raise more funds for Black Dog Institute and remove the perceived social stigma surrounding getting help for mental health wellbeing.” said Anya Stoliar, Operations Manager of Fortunate One.
