How To Become More Present
In our world, it’s encouraged to always look towards the future constantly. When will we buy our first house? What career do you want? Family? Friends? What are your goals? We think so much so about what’s in front, that we often miss out on the life that we’re living right now. Sometimes, we even fixate on the past and all the failures or reminisce. To truly succeed in building an amazing future we need to be able to take a step back and enjoy the life we have right now. In order to do this, one needs to practice presence. This will help ease anxiety and make you more grateful for this wonderful life that you lead. Have a read to find out the 4 ways how you can practice living in the moment.
Let Your Emotions Be
Lose thoughts of judgement and resist attaching yourself to past events. This, of course, is easier said than done but that does not mean you shouldn’t attempt to become your best self. Practice non-judgement, non-attachment and non-resistance. What we mean by this is to understand that feelings are temporary and that holding onto negative or positive ones isn’t healthy in the long run. Instead allow yourself to feel the emotions in the moment, work through them and find yourself savouring the good ones and learning from bad times. Life is a process and emotions are no different.
Focus On Breathing
Engage in different forms of mindfulness and meditation to constantly centre yourself. Our lives have so many ups and downs, and sometimes the easiest way to calm yourself down and take control back is by maintaining your breath. Make it purposeful and not just something you do to survive, because it will give you the outcomes you want.
Take A Break In Nature
City living is amazing and enables one to fulfil every goal and helps one to live your best life. But sometimes the constant hustle-bustle of the city can start to affect our mental health. Our world can become overwhelming, which in turn makes it harder to take control of our life. To combat this we recommend going outside and reconnecting with nature to experience its calmness, ambience and simplicity. This doesn’t take much effort either, even going on a walk in your local park can help clear your mind and remind yourself that you are here to live in the now.
Practice Gratitude
Start a journal and write down what makes you grateful daily. It’s important to keep yourself in check and to remind yourself how amazing your life is right now. Even if you are going through challenging, stressful or anxious times, try to find the good in everyday. Continue with the flow of life, our daily lifestyles can’t always be positive and joyful we need to go through challenges in order to grow and become better people. Once you let go of the past and future, you’ll be able to immerse yourself in the present where you are making the most moves and growing. Trust yourself and you will become your favourite version of yourself.
