Part of the Tribe
Festivals are synonymous with the three S’s: sound, style and sun. They're considered to be sacred spaces where anything is possible and everyone is welcome. Without sounding too romantic, they're spaces where the brave and the bold meet with the meek without judgement. Those who seek style are rewarded with a feast of colour, mismatched prints and flamboyant headwear fashioned from flowers and glitter. What does it feel like to go to a music festival?
Imagine being in a sprawling field filled with strangers and there's a musician singing on stage and although they may be far away, you can feel the beat of the music pulsating beneath your feet meshing with the beat of your own heart. Your neck's slick with sweat and the sun seems infinitely bright and your feet ache from hours of dancing but you feel carefree and there's nowhere else you'd rather be. This is what it feels like to be part of the tribe.
As we ease into festival season we look back on the festivals of yesteryear and take inspiration from the days when Hendrix and Joplin took the stage. We also look to you, the Fortunate One girl, for inspiration. Amidst the sea of people, the Fortunate One girl can be found roaming around festival grounds with flowers in her hair and swaying softly to her own rhythm. Dreamers, may your festival days be filled with sunlight, colour and melodic sounds.
