Travel Diaries: Salt & Sea In Palmy

Travel Diaries: Salt & Sea In Palmy

WHAT

Palm Beach or better known as 'Palmy' by the locals, can be found hidden amougst Sydney's Northern Beaches, approximately 45km north of Sydney CBD. Lying at the end of a long penninsula, the yellow sanded paradise is fringed by surf on one side and a sailer's paradise on the other.

Once a quiet surf town, now a real estate dream - Palm Beach is a place where the 'suits' meet the 'wetsuits'.

Populated all year round with out of town travellers and sun seeker's from across the state, simply put, Palmy is where the city meets the sea.

So, our certified Palmy 'weekend' resident Emma, gives us the ultimate guide on where the avoid the crowds and where to eat when heading to Sydney's own little slice of paradise.

DO

If a day trip is on your agenda, beat the crowds and arrive for breakfast - then, head straight to the infamous Boathouse Home pop-up store. Made famous by their strong brand identity and interior design that makes you feel like you're on vacay, Boathouse Home is an unmissable destination.

The space is carefully design with strong coastal influences and touches of all things seaside. After a browse, head straight down the road for a surf 'n' swim along the gram' worthy golden beaches.

Feel like you might need to burn off breakfast? Head up the sandy track to Barrenjoey lighthouse for unmissable views of the South Pacific Ocean. Oh how we love summer.

EAT

The newly refurbished Barrenhoey House is a hertiage listed restaurant, bar and guest house. This un-missable destination is owned and opperated by the Boathouse Group, offering nothing but the freshest produce, a relaxed atmosphere and the dreamy coastal experience you've been waiting for.

STAY

With Palm Beach being a holiday destination for many city-siders, the real estate is minimal when it comes to accommodation. Depending on your budget, you can spend the night on the tranquil waters of Pittwater by boat or yacht. Otherwise, in our opinion - Palm Beach Holiday Rentals have the coolest offerings. If the neat placements of surf culture throughout your home and panoramic views don't give you that fuzzy feeling inside, perhaps better stay at home.
