Tread Lightly

Here at Fortunate One, we're constantly looking to better oursleves when it comes to how live. With the ongoing discussion of climate change and the impact of the human race on the environment, we believe that we (as hummanity) can no longer sit back and wait for the next generation to figure it out.

However, the territory that comes with such a large topic of conversation, comes 'saturation'. So, don't feel lost when it comes to understanding or deciphering the do's and the don'ts of reducing your carbon footprint.

So, we thought we would cut through the grit of it all and put together a short, yet sharp list of the small changes we can all make in our lives - that can have a big change.

We must state that indivually, we are humans - not saints. Whether you start with one or even five changes to your daily routine, you are still one step closer to making a difference to your individual carbon footprint.

1. MINDFUL EATING

Purchasing foods that are grown in season, locally picked and sold, means less transportation and ultimately, lower emissions.

2. REDUCE, REUSE AND RECYCLE

An age old saying, but when when it comes to eating out, ditch the single-use takeaway cutlery and coffee cups for reusuable products. Not only will you be reducing your use of throw-away plastics - but you'll never have the problem of leaking coffee cups again...

3. DRIVE LESS

If you're use to a car, I'm sure you'll agree that this is one of the hardest to achieve. But remember, a small change can always implement a big impact - whether you walk to your local store instead of driving, or catch the bus to work two days a week. Not only will the environment thank you, but so will your wallet.

4. EAT LESS MEAT

Studies show that a vegetarian diet can make as much as a 20 percent difference to your overall carbon footprint. Even for a month, try eating less or no meat in your diet to make huge impact to your carbon contribution. Still not sold? You'll soon notice how much money you will save on you weekly food shop...

5. BYO MARKET BAG

Say no to plastic bags everytime you shop by bringing your own market bag. Not only does it this reduce your plastic use, but also doubles as a dreamy vacay bag.

6. PLASTIC NOT SO FANTASTIC

Invest in a life long glass water bottle that will reduce your single-plastic use AND the risk of the plastic chemicals leaching into your water.

Our Recommendation: We love crystal elixr water bottles - with healing and energy raising, why wouldn't you?
